Lorenzo Trujillo began his musical life at the age of four on the violin.   By the time he was only six, he could be seen performing throughout Colorado and New Mexico; and by the age of 8, was winning solo competitions on violin and piano.   As a young musical prodigy, Lorenzo rapidly picked up other instruments.   By the age of 15, he could be seen performing a wide variety of classical, jazz, and folk music on violin, cello, piano, drums, guitar, bass, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, tuba, vihuela, and guitarron.   During his high school years, he could also be seen conducting the high school or directing the high school jazz band.   It wasn't until his junior year of high school that he started seriously playing the trumpet.   Lorenzo was self-taught for two years before he began studying with local Denver, Colorado trumpeter Tony Rodriguez. Lorenzo's lessons consisted of more than 90 minutes of playing in more than 5 octaves.  Lorenzo continued his study with Dr. Michael Tunnell at the University of Louisville Dr. Tunnell motivated Lorenzo's excitement about classical trumpet music and most importantly, practicing.  With Doc T's guidance, Lorenzo developed into an extremely versatile trumpeter. During Lorenzo's graduate study at the California Institute of the Arts, he studied with Edward Carroll.  Ed introduced new music to Lorenzo and helped him to realize some of the most difficult music in the trumpet's literature.  Lorenzo most recently spent time studying with international trumpet virtuoso Jens Lindemann, where once again Lorenzo was challenged to stretch his technique and musicianship to another level.
